10 Things You Need to Clean Before The Christmas Guests Arrive


1: Your blinds - Spray a feather duster with some furniture polish and run it between the blinds, this will clean both sides together, saving you time.

2: Your taps - Another Purple House Maid favorite, use a toothbrush to get to all the difficult crevices around the taps with some diluted Fairy Liquid, and rub to an eye watering high shine with a dry microfibre cloth.

3: The outside of your toilet - You should be cleaning your toilet bowl every night and at the very, least once a week. But when was the last time you actually cleaned outside the bowl, dirt builds up all the around the outside of your toilet bowl, make sure to tackle it before the mother-in-law arrives because I can assure you, she'll be checking.

4: Guest pillows - Pillows collect dead skin cells over time, you'll sleep so much easier knowing your parents are sleeping on clean pillows. Just throw those pillows into your washing machine and consult the care tag for temperature settings.

5: Your shower curtain - Go check your shower curtain now, I dare you, look at the bottom, what's that orangey pink stuff? That's airborne bacteria my friend, lovely eh? No worries though, throw that in the washing machine too, it'll come out like new. Always read the care label.

6: Your microwave - Place a 4-cup large microwave-safe bowl that contains 1 cup of water and a chopped-up lemon. Turn on High for several minutes or until the solution boils and the window is steamy. Let it sit to cool for 15 minutes before opening the door. Remove and wipe out inside with a microfibre cloth. Clean the rubber gasket around the door with a sponge dampened with warm water. If the window is greasy, clean with a mixture of half vinegar and half water, and dry.

7: Your glasses - Please, please, please don't forget to get the special Christmas Glassware down from the top shelf and give it a thorough wash in warm, soapy water. It's been up there for a full year, collecting dust and germs. The best way to dry glasses is to let them drip dry upside down, they'll be ready and sparkling when anyone wants them.

8: Windows - And it doesn't have to take a day to clean them all, again, our go to answer to all things cleaning, Fairy Liquid and microfibre cloths. Dilute some Fairy Liquid in a dish of warm water and clean your windows and frames. Dry them with another dry microfibre cloth. We clean windows in less than 3 minutes each, it's so much faster than window blades and newspaper.

9: Your front door - Give your front door a wash, after all its the first impression your guests get when they arrive for Christmas.

10: Your door mat - And here's the second impression, make sure that door mat is hoovered and clean.
